About Widget Death Match
Widget Death Match (WDM) is a place where widget design badasses can show off their skills, talk a little trash, and bust some chops.
It all started as some trash talk in the KickApps offices between Mike and Simon about who the real Iron Widgetmaker is, and before we knew it, we’d all gone a little too far. The widgets in round 1 were all built with the KickApps Widget Studio, and this site is running on the KickApps platform.
If you’re interested in joining a round of the WDM, drop a line in the message board. We’re running 1-week rounds, 2 entries per round (head to head), top rated widget page at the end of the week is the winner. Loser makes a dignified concession speech and winner goes on to the next round.
What are the rules of Widget Death Match?
- One widget per contestant.
- On the appointed date, send your widget embed code to me. I’ll put the widgets on clean pages and link to them both.
- We’ll all vote by rating the widgets.
- If your widget is pushed off the mat 3 times, you lose.
- If your widget is knocked out or killed, you lose.
- Next contestant will enter the ring for the next round.
And this isn’t a rule, more of a suggestion: bring your own towel to mop up the blood.
